Avila Beach Mixed Use
This project incorporates a four part program: Noodle shop, wine bar, Tai Chi studio, and one single family residence for the owners of the Tai Chi studio. The corner site on Front st. gives the noodle shop and wine tasting area optimal frontage, while the large "green box" entrance announces the shops presence and draws maximum business from the walkable street. The slope of the site provides Front st. access for the shops as well as a garage entrance for the Tai Chi studio and third floor residence. The hanging garden atrium serves as a connecting space between programs that allows light to filter in and penetrate through multiple program spaces while maintaing necessary privacy separations. This space also serves as a lounge for beach goers to escape the sun while enjoying a glass of wine.
